Hon. Maxwell reaffirms commitment to promote digital literacy among Ondo students
In commemoration of International Literacy Day, held on September 8, 2024, Honorable Maxwell Adelosoye, Vice Chairman of the Ondo South West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Transition Committee, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting digital literacy among students in the LCDA.
During a working visit to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on ICT, Honorable Tomide Akinribido, Adelosoye announced that plans are on the way for Ondo State Information and Technology Agency ( SITA) to donate laptops, computer accessories to students in the LCDA. This initiative is in collaboration with the agency and the Ondo State Government. This initiative aims to ensure that every young adult in the LCDA is equipped with the digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.
While speaking with newsmen, Adelosoye emphasized the significance of digital literacy, stating, “Digital literacy has become an essential skill in today’s world. It empowers young people to navigate, understand, and interact effectively with digital tools and resources.” He highlighted the numerous benefits of digital literacy for both individuals and society as a whole.
The LCDA Vice Chairman commended the Ondo State government,The Agency and the SSA on ICT, Hon. Akinribido for their efforts to promote digital literacy, citing recent initiatives such as the Public Service Training Institute (PSTI) Youth Empowerment Program and the summer holiday boot camp. He expressed his belief that the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa is committed to the future of young people and is taking proactive steps to ensure their success in the digital age.
In response, Honorable Tomide Akinribido appreciated the Vice Chairman’s for the visit and partnership offer. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Ondo State a digitally literate state, emphasizing the importance of equipping young people with the skills they need to compete on a global scale.
