YALI Ondo Leads Clean-Up Drive in Akure, Donates Waste Collectors for Sustainable Change
YALI Ondo Network, through its Youth Day of Service project themed “Clean-Up Oja Oba Akure,” has taken significant strides in enhancing sanitation and raising environmental awareness in Akure.
The event was organized in partnership with the Ondo State Waste Management Authority and funded by Leap Africa and World Connect, the project kicked off on September 21, 2024, in alignment with World Clean-Up Day.
The goal was to encourage responsible waste disposal and sustainable practices among residents.
In the project’s final phase on November 9, 2024, YALI Ondo Hub donated two plastic waste collectors, strategically placed at Oja Oba and the International Conference Centre (The Dome) to support ongoing waste management.
This phase saw a strong turnout, with enthusiastic community participation that underscored the public’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner environment.

The initiative was led by Project Coordinator Emmanuel Adamolekun and Assistant Project Coordinator Ayoola Adebayo, with over 50 volunteers joining the effort, including students, young professionals, and Ondo State Waste Management Authority officials.
The organizers expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ support and urged continued involvement in environmental initiatives across the state.
