HON. OLUWOLE OGUNMOLASUYI HAILS GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA’S WORKERS’-FIRST AGENDA, REPRESENTS SPEAKER AT 2025 MAY DAY CELEBRATION



The Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, represented the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, at the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Akure.

The event, themed “Reclaiming the Civic Space in the Midst of Economic Hardship,” was a vibrant gathering of government leaders, union officials, and workers across various sectors of the state’s economy.

Delivering his goodwill message on behalf of the Speaker, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi commended Ondo State workers for their undying spirit and resilience, describing them as the “pulse of governance and the foundation upon which development rests.” He reaffirmed the State Assembly’s unwavering support for legislative policies that promote fair wages, pension reforms, job security, and dignified working conditions.



Hon. Ogunmolasuyi used the occasion to applaud Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his administration’s outstanding commitment to workers’ welfare. He echoed the Governor’s address in highlighting the significant strides made under the present administration, including:
Recruitment of over 3,000 workers across key sectors such as education, health, and administration.
Clearing of a three-year backlog of gratuities for retired public and local government workers.
Upward review of the state minimum wage to N73,000, surpassing the national benchmark.
Monthly pension award of N30,000 to retirees.
Timely promotions and career progression initiatives, with the 2025 promotion exercise already underway.
Speaking on behalf of the House leadership, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi noted that these efforts demonstrate a bold and compassionate governance philosophy, one that places human capital at the centre of policy implementation. “What Governor Aiyedatiwa has done is not just economic relief; it is a reaffirmation that governance must serve the people at every level,” he said.

He particularly lauded the industrial harmony in the state, attributing it to the constructive dialogue between labour unions and the government. He acknowledged the roles played by labour leaders like Comrade Ademola Olapade (NLC Chairperson) and Comrade Clement Fatuase (TUC Chairman) in ensuring workers’ interests are protected without disrupting governance.

The event also featured remarks by Mr. Bayo Philip, Head of Service, who assured workers of the Governor’s sincerity and commitment. The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Leke Adegbite, who also served as Chairman of the Planning Committee, appreciated the Governor’s consistent engagement with the workforce and credited the success of the celebration to the administration’s openness and responsiveness. Hon. Ogunmolasuyi concluded by urging workers to continue upholding values of diligence, patriotism, and integrity. He reaffirmed that the Assembly, in collaboration with the Executive, remains steadfast in enacting policies that strengthen the civil service and uphold social justice.

“As we celebrate our workers today, let us remember that they are not just implementers of policy but shapers of our collective future. The House of Assembly, under Rt. Hon. Oladiji’s leadership will continue to partner with the Executive to ensure that our workforce is not only motivated but protected,” he declared.
