Atiku Condemns Alleged Withholding of Corps Member’s Certificate
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over the alleged withholding of a discharge certificate from Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, who had publicly spoken about economic hardship in Nigeria.
Atiku described the incident as “unacceptable” and warned against politically motivated actions, urging authorities to resolve the matter promptly to maintain public trust in institutions.
Raye, who completed her service in Lagos State, claimed she was denied her certificate during collection, with officials alleging she missed her April clearance. She refuted the claim, alleging that her Local Government Inspector repeatedly asked her to wait, later refused to clear her, and seized her file.
She expressed frustration on social media, calling the experience a waste of time and alleging deliberate victimisation.
As of press time, the NYSC had not responded to the allegations.
