Breaking: Wife, daughter of Kwara APC chairman abducted

Gunmen have kidnapped the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident happened Sunday night at Sakpefu area of Patigi, when a five-man gang reportedly scaled the fence of Swasun’s residence and opened fire to scare residents.

The attackers stormed one of the rooms, seized Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and their daughter, Amina, and whisked them away at gunpoint.

Party officials confirmed the abduction on Monday, saying the chairman narrowly escaped being taken. Witnesses said the gunmen operated for several minutes before fleeing with the victims to an unknown location.

The abduction adds to the rising cases of kidnappings in Patigi and other parts of Kwara North, where residents have repeatedly called for tighter security.

When contacted, State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said he was yet to receive details of the incident.
