Ondo Government Assures Ijoka Residents of Swift Action on Bad Road

The Ondo State Government has assured residents of Ijoka community in Akure South Local Government Area of prompt action following their protest on Monday, November 10, 2025, over the deplorable condition of the major road linking the area to other parts of Akure metropolis.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Allen Sowore, the government acknowledged the residents’ grievances, describing their concerns as understandable and commending them for their patience and endurance over the past months.

Sowore explained that the State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, had recently approved the construction and rehabilitation of over 101 kilometres of roads across the state, as part of efforts to bridge critical infrastructure gaps.

He noted that the Oluwatuyi/Ijoka Road project was among those re-awarded by the council to resolve technical issues and cost variations resulting from inflation.

“Now that the road project has been re-awarded, residents can be rest assured that the contractor will soon remobilize to site and expedite work to ensure timely completion,” the statement read in part.

The government appealed to residents to remain patient and cooperate with the contractor and relevant agencies to facilitate a smooth and speedy execution of the project.
