Makinde Procures Two Surveillance Aircrafts To Combat Terrorists Attacks In Oyo
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has revealed the procurement of two surveillance aircrafts by the Oyo State Government for security reinforcement in combatting terrorists attacks and other crimes in the state.
Governor Makinde stated that the two surveillance aircraft procured by the state government have arrived Nigeria, and are currently reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos.
He emphasized that the aircraft, expected to become operational before the end of June, will enhance surveillance along border areas between Oyo and Kwara states, as well as the international border with the Republic of Benin.
The governor declared that the State Government will not give in to terror, following the abduction of pupils, students, and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
He maintained that the priority of the state government remains the safe and timely rescue of all the kidnapped victims.
Governor Makinde, however, said that the government remains open to engagement with the abductors to secure the release of the victims through peaceful means.
The Governor confirmed that a total of 32 persons were abducted in the attack, including 7 students from Community Secondary School, and 18 pupils, as well as 7 teachers from First Baptist Primary and Nursery School in Oriire Local Government Area.
