Abiodun Hails Police Over Anti-Kidnapping Gains in Ogun-Lagos Border Communities

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has praised the Nigeria Police Force for the successes recorded under Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Ogun and Lagos states.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the governor commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for initiating what he described as a proactive, intelligence-led operation that has strengthened security in both states.

Abiodun said the operation has achieved significant results through coordinated security raids on forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun-Lagos corridor. According to him, the exercise has led to the neutralisation of armed bandits, the arrest of suspected criminals and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

He noted that the operation has helped restore public confidence in the police while demonstrating the commitment of security agencies to protecting lives and property.

The governor added that the sustained offensive against criminal elements has increasingly denied kidnappers, bandits and other violent offenders safe havens in border communities shared by Ogun and Lagos.

Abiodun pledged continued support for security agencies through the provision of logistics, technology and other operational resources to enhance policing and improve security across the state.

He said his administration’s investments in security infrastructure, surveillance technology and operational mobility have complemented the efforts of the police and other security agencies in maintaining peace and order.

The governor also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, as well as officers involved in the operation, for their professionalism, courage and dedication.

Describing Operation Kosaye as a model for tackling cross-border crime, Abiodun stressed the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated inter-state operations in addressing emerging security threats.

He urged other states to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks, saying such partnerships would prevent criminal groups from exploiting state boundaries to evade law enforcement.
