Works Commissioner Receives APWEN Delegation, Reaffirms Commitment to Professional Engineering Standards

The Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, has reiterated the Ondo State Government’s commitment to professionalism, adherence to engineering standards and the promotion of greater participation of women in the engineering profession.

The Commissioner stated this while receiving members of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), led by its National President, Mrs. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe.

Engr. Olawoye highlighted the invaluable contributions of women to the engineering profession, noting that women have continued to demonstrate competence, innovation and excellence across various fields of engineering.

He emphasised the need to encourage more women to pursue and practise engineering, while creating an enabling environment for them to develop their careers and assume greater leadership responsibilities within the profession.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to professionalism and adherence to established engineering standards and best practices in the execution of infrastructure projects across Ondo State.

According to him, ongoing and completed infrastructure projects under the administration are being executed with due attention to quality, safety, durability and strict compliance with professional standards, in line with the government’s determination to deliver infrastructure that will stand the test of time.

He welcomed stronger collaboration between the government and professional bodies such as APWEN, stressing that the expertise, innovation and technical contributions of professional associations remain critical to advancing sustainable infrastructure development.
