Supreme Court okays accelerated hearing on Turaki-led PDP appeal
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has granted an application for accelerated hearing filed by the Turaki-led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), agreeing with submissions presented by its counsel, Chris Uche.
The apex court directed the respondents to file their responses within five days and subsequently fixed April 22 for the hearing of the substantive appeal.
PDP faction is seeking to overturn the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court that halted the party’s planned national convention in Ibadan in November 2025.
In its appeal, the faction argued that the lower courts lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter, urging the Supreme Court to nullify the decisions.
