Fubara Succumbs To Wike’s Superior Force, Quits Governorship Race

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has succumbed to the pressures from Nyesom Wike, FCT Minster, and withdrew from the governorship race in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

Governor Fubara, in a statement he personally signed, declared his withdrawal from the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, explaining that his withdrawal became necessary after extensive consultation with his family, friends and associates.

According to him, since leadership is about sacrifice, the state is bigger than his personal ambition and any individual, hence, the need to sustain the peace, stability and unity of Rivers State.

He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their time and resources, as he described his silence during the turbulent times as being deliberate and strategic.

He stressed that he did not step down from the race as a result of his weakness, fear or surrender, but out of conviction and sacrifice so that Rivers may move forward in peace and unity, as he remains committed to serve the people to the end.

He concluded by thanking President Bola Tinubu, as he promised to support whoever emerges as the APC candidate in the general elections.

Meanwhile, the former House of Representatives Minority Leader and loyalist of Nyesom Wike, Kingsley Chinda, who withdrew from the National Assembly to contest the APC Governorship primaries, was the sole candidate of the party, after former Rivers State APC governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, including George Kelly, had withdrawn from the race.
