Kebbi senator dumps APC ahead of senate primaries, cites internal crisis
Garba Maidoki, senator representing Kebbi South, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), just four days before the party’s senate primary election.
In a resignation letter dated May 14 and addressed to the APC ward chairman in Rafin Zuru Ward, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Maidoki said his decision followed unresolved internal crises within the party.
The lawmaker said the persistent disputes in the APC had become a source of concern for his political ambition.
“I am writing to inform you of the withdrawal of my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter read.
“My decision is based on the lingering internal crises of the APC that has made my political aspirations a source of concern.”
Maidoki also expressed appreciation to the party for giving him the platform to serve.
“I thank you for the opportunity to serve under the umbrella of the party,” he added.
The senator currently chairs the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and serves as vice-chairman of the Committee on Information and National Orientation.
The APC has scheduled its senate primary election for May 18 ahead of the 2027 general elections.
