AAUA Recent Graduate, Feminist, Wins Prestigious Diana Global Award in UK

Joy Oluwatoyin Adeboye, a 22-year-old student from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, has been honoured with the prestigious Diana Award in London.

Diana Award honorees are inspiring young leaders from the UK and beyond, recognized for inspiring and mobilizing others to serve communities and drive lasting global change.

Chosen from over 191 honorees across the UK and around the world, Joy was among the top awardees from Nigeria recognized for inspiring and mobilizing new generations to serve their communities and create lasting global change.

Joy Adeboye Receives Diana Global Award

The Award, presented by the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, which is especially meaningful as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of The Diana Award, a program established in memory of Princess Diana, Princess of Wales, United kingdom to celebrate young women for their efforts in social action and humanitarian work.

Joy’s remarkable achievements include her dedication to advocating and supporting young women’s rights through her non-profit.

However, she’s the founder of Resilient Girls Initiative, a non profit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls and as well tackles sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), period poverty, economic inequality, self-esteem and leadership mentorship and sustainable development practices, impacting over 20000 women and girls.

Joy expressed gratitude, while reacting to the award. “This marks the beginning of my global transformative change and thanked those who have been standing with her in her journey.

In an interview with Joy, she said “I am inspired daily by the power of my voice in turning my traumas to impact through collective action”.

She further expressed her gratitude, stating that the award marks the beginning of her global transformative change and thanked those who have been standing with her in the journey.

Similarly, she thanked her team at the Resilient Girl Initiative for their unwavering efforts in leading social action.
